The Iraqi Seafarers Union provides direct representation for members facing disputes with employers, shipping companies, or port authorities. We work to ensure every member receives fair treatment, proper wages, and safe working conditions in accordance with Iraqi and international maritime labor law.
Before signing any employment contract, ISU members can have their agreements reviewed by our union to ensure fair terms, proper compensation, and protection against exploitative clauses common in the maritime industry.
Many Iraqi seafarers work aboard international vessels, often far from home and Iraqi legal protections. ISU maintains relationships with international maritime unions to extend support and representation to our members wherever they sail.
When a member faces an emergency — an unsafe vessel, withheld wages, or a dispute that requires immediate intervention — ISU provides direct emergency support to protect their safety and rights without delay.
Knowledge is protection. ISU runs ongoing educational programs to ensure members understand their rights under Iraqi and international maritime labor law, as well as safety standards expected aboard any vessel.
Joining the Iraqi Seafarers Union means becoming part of a collective voice that protects and represents Iraqi maritime workers. Membership grants access to all union resources, representation, and the strength of solidarity.
